Add a new language

Selecting Languages > Add opens a form to add a new language (see picture 5).

  Picture 5

This form contains the following fields:

  • The Language name field contains the name of the language used in the admin area only which allows you to select the current language. This field is mandatory.
  • The Language code field contains a short language name ( code ). This name is used to form a set of templates and insert the code into the page. This field is mandatory. Language codes must be unique for all languages.
  • The Root category name field is used for category navigation in the front-end interface. This field is mandatory.

If all of the values are set correctly, then after clicking the Add new button a message is displayed notifying that new language has been added successfully. The newly added language becomes available for selection. Now you can proceed to adding content for this language, such as new categories, fields and properties.

After a new language is added a basic set of templates for it is automatically created. These templates are based on the English set created during the phpRealestate installation. The structure of this set and functions of every template are described in detail in Section 12 - Templates and internal tags .

View the list of existing languages

When you select Languages > View / Modify, a list of existing languages is opened. Languages are displayed in a table (see picture 6).

  Picture 6

The first column contains a language name, the second column contains a language code, and the third column contains the root category name for a language. The last column lists the action buttons used to edit or delete languages in the list.

Edit the existing language

After clicking the Edit icon next to any language in the list, a form that allows to edit this language is displayed. This form contains the same fields as the form used to create new languages. The short language code is not editable. If all of the values are set correctly, then after clicking the Save button a message is displayed notifying that the changes have been saved successfully.

Delete the existing language

After clicking the Delete icon next to any language in the list, a delete confirmation window is displayed (see picture 7)

Click OK to delete the selected language, or Cancel to cancel this operation. Be careful while deleting languages, because this operation also deletes all data of the selected language, including its templates, categories, fields and properties. You cannot delete a language, if it is the last language of the system. If you attempt to do so, an error message will be generated.
